Savendie has been delighted to manage and assist with the UK’s first second stage transfers of homes from Europe’s largest social housing landlord to six community based housing associations.
The highly complex transactions resulted in Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) transferring nearly 1700 homes in March 2009 and nearly 325 homes in July 2009 to local communities in Ardenglen, Cassiltoun, Parkhead, Shettleston, Hyndland and Provanhall.
Savendie consultants worked alongside the GHA internal team and with other external advisers, guiding the process that included the transfer of homes, staff, shops, garages and various contracts. Savendie facilitated legal completion and managed the practical issues around separating the businesses within 16 weeks of the tenant vote for transfer.
Savendie was particularly proud that the individuals working on the project in GHA won an internal recognition award for team work on the following nomination:
The virtual team worked well together in extremely challenging circumstances and against the odds with humour and passion to succeed in what, at one time, seemed an impossible task. What sets this team apart from others was the quality of the working relationships between staff and professional advisors both in-house and external which contributed to the success and the huge sense of achievement and pride felt by all involved.
